Roll.

We, as the dA DV, most definitely cannot continue on this way.

The particular issues halting favorable progress have been noted and commented upon by many of you—futilely, in the end.

What, then, is to become of the DV?

If we give these issues no more than a passing glance as we go about our business—if everyone gravely agrees with those describing the issues at hand, and makes a few tweaks here and there, in turn, but continues to decline to take any action further than verbal—how are we to improve ourselves?

There is an ever growing wave of those so dissatisfied with the way things are now that they feel the only solution is to simply leave. Can we blame them? No. Can we blame ourselves?

No.

The blame for this is not foisted so easily on a single culprit. We are all, in some way, to blame for the way things are. We who stay are culpable for being a part of the situation which drives people to leave; those who leave are culpable, most times, for not trying to truly work matters out with those who remain before leaving this stop behind as a hopeless cause.

Are we a hopeless cause?

Do any of you hold on to the faint ember of hope—the thought that we are still salvageable—that we are still very much alive?

If there are any of you who do—I want you to join me in an honest to darkness effort to scrub this place to the bone. I know well that I haven't been the best RPer—or the best unofficial leader, because leaders lead, and I have not been here enough to do so—but I am asking you to listen. I've never wanted a set of ironclad rules for the dA DV, because I feel that a certain amount of creative license keeps the spirit alive. This does mean, however, that we must ourselves make certain that we take care not to overstep boundaries. I can't do squat toward this end without your help, without your active participation.

We're goddamn Killjoys—and we're about to let them take us alive.

You guys—let's not.

Keep running.

(Props to you and the rest of the RPers for sticking it out for such an extended period of time.
Truth be told, seeing this makes me rather sad. I must confess that I'm not fully aware of the severity of the issues you've described - I'm only aware of what has told me - but the whole situation seems to be quite unfortunate.
If I may offer an outsider's view on the status quo, based largely off the comments on this journal, it appears as though there may be a lack of tolerance in the community? People's RP styles seem to be clashing with each other, resulting in a lot of animosity.
Anyway, this is a rather complex problem. Best of luck to you and everyone else with fixing up the DV. And forgive me for weighing in with my opinion; I just felt the need to put in my two cents for old time's sake, I suppose. :) )
