This RP community has never had any rules or guidelines. Never needed them, either. As this Dangerverse world grows and expands, however, I feel that it’s necessary to go back over several basic points. Note that what I’ll be mentioning aren’t exactly rules, but it would be appreciated if they were paid attention to and followed as closely as possible. Also note that I’m not calling anyone out—I’m addressing several problems that I have seen. Even if you feel they don’t apply to you, please read through them anyway.

Before I really get into this, I’d like to mention that in an RP world, most of the rules of the actual world are still applicable. Some can be bent, but a very good explanation is needed to do so.

    Here is the list.

    —

First of all, remember that this is a Dangerverse RP. Integration of separate, smaller RP worlds into this one is acceptable, but bringing an entirely different fanbase and laying it over the original RP destroys the entire point of even having this world. The general theme of this RP is Killjoys and Draculoids, not demons and angels, not vampire princes and all-powerful androids. Bringing a few unique beings into the RP is perfectly fine, if they’re well-developed and realistic, but a large number shifts attention away from the Killjoys/Draculoids theme and more onto demons/angels/whatever it is, which are, I say again, not the main focus of this RP.

There are no parallel worlds in this RP. You cannot speak for an already existing character without permission, nor can you create a parallel world in which this character exists and have them act as you please, then mention these actions in the actual RP as if the character had truly performed them.

Try to keep your character from being too powerful/talented. There is a term for this: Mary Sue (male: Harry Ballsy Sue*). No one is invincible and incredibly skilled at everything, and everyone has many flaws and quirks. It’s what makes a person unique; it’s what makes them real.

It’s rude to intrude upon a set RP. If two or more RPers have obviously collaborated over an idea before posting something about it, if you were not included, and if the scene is not open, you cannot place your character in the scene spoken about—especially if you haven’t checked with the scene’s creators, first. I haven’t seen many cases of this, but there have been a few.

Make sure your character’s personality and traits are consistent. This is always a necessity, especially if you are playing a canon character. For instance, if someone introduced Santa Claus into the RP as a slang-throwing gangster with tattoos and spiked leather, you can see how that would not be consistent at all.

Hijacking another character’s painstakingly thought up traits and habits is never appreciated. It might be appearance; it might be what is said, and/or the way it is said; it might be a certain action, it might even be a certain taste—but the simple fact is that stealing another character’s original trait and claiming it as your own is stealing. Of course, if the trait is more common and did not come from someone else’s idea, it’s definitely not a crime for more than one character to possess it.

It is not possible to speak for a character already in existence. I brought this up in an earlier point, but I thought I would go through it again. If you want to officially post information about/a message from a certain character—even if it is a canon character—if someone is running an account for that character you must check with the owner of that account first.

Try to keep plots and settings realistic. Remember that every action creates a (sometimes stronger) reaction, and all of these actions have consequences. Also remember that BL/ind is not filled with angry, macho idiots, and that the Killjoy ranks are not filled with sweet, compassionate angels. The heartless evil is not confined to BL/ind, and the genuine good is not confined to Killjoys. There is dirt on both sides, just like there is beauty in both sides.

These are just a few points that I’ve been able to come up with at this moment; any questions about and/or suggestions for this list are welcome.

    Thank you for reading.

(First time RP'er in the Dangerverse. This journal really helped me grasp what was suppose to be going on. It can get pretty confusing just going off someones profile, the comments and transmissions. Thanks Poison! -A)
